Sixteen // Exams

Exams are over! It's meant to say we could not have been more proud of you in your 16th year. It was one that we had been worried about for some time, given that you weren't really a school lover. When your GCSEs came about, it turns out we didn't need to worry. By that time you knew that FRA was where your future lay. You studied hard and you did everything you needed to do to make it through.

Another year with plenty of travelling, including trips skiing and obviously to the house in France, was punctuated by what for us was the holiday of a lifetime.

Thailand was everything, as we headed to Asia for a Christmas like no other. And whilst it should probably have been the elephants, the monkeys, the Thai boxing, eating scorpions in the street, travelling down the river in a narrowboat, going to a temple, staying in a treehouse in the middle of the jungle, seeing New Year's Eve at a five-star hotel in Phuket, or eating at a floating restaurant that should be the memories that stand out the most… it isn't.

The memory that sticks out the most to me is when you went to the Apple Store in Thailand and, with your own money that you had earned, purchased an iPad. I was so proud of you and how hard you thought about making that decision in that moment. To be fair, seeing you scrub an elephant was also pretty cool.
